Hell's Island

John Payne stars as Mike Cormack, a hard-drinking and depressed former detective, in this 1955 film noir directed by Phil Karlson. Cormack is hired by a wheelchair-using stranger, Francis L. Sullivan, to find a missing ruby in the Caribbean, which leads him to his ex-girlfriend, Mary Murphy's, island home. When Cormack discovers his ex-fiancée is involved in the ruby's disappearance, and her husband reveals she sabotaged his plane to collect on his life insurance, Cormack must navigate a complex web of deceit and danger to uncover the truth.
