The Dark Horse

The Dark Horse is a 1932 American pre-Code political comedy film starring Warren William and Bette Davis. The movie follows Hal Samson Blake, a campaign manager played by William, as he helps nominate Zachary Hicks (Guy Kibbee), a "dark horse" candidate, for governor. Blake organizes Hicks' campaign and teaches him to answer questions with the catchphrase "Well yes, but then again no." As the election approaches, Blake's personal life becomes entangled, including his relationship with Kay Russell (Bette Davis) and his ex-wife Maybelle (Vivienne Osborne).
