Young writer Nicholas Whistler (Dirk Bogarde) is sent on a "business" trip to Prague by Col. Cunliffe (Robert Morley), who has mistaken him for an espionage courier. In Prague, Whistler meets Vlasta Simoneva (Sylva Koscina), a beautiful and enigmatic guide who turns out to be an agent of the Czech secret police. As Whistler navigates this complex web of espionage, he must use his wits to evade capture and ultimately reach the British embassy, with the help of Vlasta.
