Raizō Ichikawa
Biography
Ichikawa Raizō VIII was a Japanese film and kabuki actor born Yoshiya Ōta on August 29, 1931, in Kyoto. He gained acclaim for his performances in period dramas, including the Sleepy Eyes of Death series and The Sword (Ken). After receiving breakout success, he underwent surgery for rectal cancer in 1968 but died a year later due to metastasis.
