Josef Sommer
Biography
Maximilian Josef Sommer, born June 26, 1934, in Greifswald, Germany, emigrated to the United States with his family at a young age. He trained as an actor at the American Shakespeare Festival in Connecticut and served in the U.S. Army before launching a distinguished stage career, including Broadway debuts in Othello and The Trial of the Catonsville Nine. Sommer's versatility also led to notable film roles.
