Kiyoshi Atsumi was a Japanese film actor born Yasuo Tadokoro on March 10, 1928, in Tokyo. He began his career as a comedian at a strip-show theater in Asakusa in 1951 and later became the star of the highly popular Tora-san series of films, playing the iconic role 48 times over 26 years. His performance as a lovable, innocent man earned him recognition and made him synonymous with the character.
