Tora-san's Promise

In this charming entry of the beloved Otoko wa Tsurai yo series, Kiyoshi Atsumi reprises his role as Torajirō Kuruma, aka Tora-san, who returns home for an elementary school class reunion only to embarrass himself with a drunken outburst that sends him back on the road. Along the way, he meets a spirited 18-year-old girl who becomes smitten with him and follows him around, while also being tasked by one of his old friends to promise to marry his widow upon his passing. This middle-quality entry in the series still delivers on its trademark blend of action, comedy, and heart, as Tora-san navigates love, friendship, and loyalty in equal measure.
