Hanna Schygulla
Biography
Hanna Schygulla is a German actress and chanson singer born on December 25, 1943, in Königshütte (now Chorzów, Poland), to German parents of Polish origin. She gained prominence as a leading figure in the New German Cinema, working closely with director Rainer Werner Fassbinder. Schygulla won two prestigious awards for her performances: the Silver Bear for The Marriage of Maria Braun (1979) and the Cannes Film Festival Award for The Story of Piera (1983).
