Rio das Mortes

Hanna Schygulla plays Hanna, the girlfriend who humors her boyfriend's obsession with finding buried treasure in Peru, while Günther Kaufmann stars as Gunther, Michel's colleague and friend who joins him on the adventure. The film follows their attempts to raise money and overcome their ignorance of the real Rio das Mortes, which is actually located in Brazil. With its biting commentary on urban life in West Germany, the movie offers a comedic critique of two men chasing a treasure map that leads them down a series of misadventures.
