Annie Ross was a British-American singer and actress best known as a member of the jazz vocal trio Lambert, Hendricks & Ross, helping pioneer the vocalese style of jazz singing. She appeared in several film roles, including Straight On till Morning, Alfie Darling, and Superman III, as well as stage productions like The Threepenny Opera and The Pirates of Penzance. A Jazz Master named by the National Endowment for the Arts in 2010, Ross was also known for her distinctive style and voice.
