Biography

John Franklin Candy was a Canadian actor and comedian who rose to fame in the 1970s as a member of The Second City and its sketch comedy series Second City Television. He achieved international acclaim with starring roles in iconic comedy films such as Stripes, Splash, and Planes, Trains and Automobiles. A co-owner of the CFL's Toronto Argonauts, Candy passed away at 43 due to a heart attack while filming Wagons East in 1994.
