Biography

Parley Baer was a versatile American actor known for his iconic roles in radio and television. He originated the title role in the radio version of Gunsmoke and played the Mayor of Mayberry in The Andy Griffith Show, as well as Arthur J. Henson in The Addams Family. Before turning to acting, Baer worked in the circus as a ringmaster and publicist before embarking on his distinguished radio career in 1933.
