Shirley Temple Black was a renowned American actress, singer, and diplomat who rose to fame as Hollywood's number-one box-office draw from 1934 to 1938. She won a special Juvenile Academy Award in 1935 for her outstanding contribution as a juvenile performer and went on to appear in numerous films throughout the decade. Later, she served as United States Ambassador to Ghana and Czechoslovakia, and Chief of Protocol of the United States.
