Ai no bôrei

In 1895, a rickshaw runner, Toyoji (Tatsuya Fuji), arrives home in a village in Japan, where his wife Seki (Kazuko Yoshiyuki) is being sexually assaulted by a young neighbor, leading to a tumultuous affair. Seki's husband, Gisaburo (Takahiro Tamura), is ultimately murdered by Seki and Toyoji, with their ghostly apparitions returning to haunt them. As the local gossip intensifies, Inspector Hotta (Takuzo Kawatani) investigates, threatening their secret lives.
