Mighty Joe Young

The film tells the story of a young woman, Jill Young (Terry Moore), living on her father's ranch in Africa with a 12-foot-tall and 4,500-pound gorilla she has raised from an infant. Years later, she brings him to Hollywood, where he becomes a nightclub attraction, charming audiences with his size, strength, and affectionate nature. Along the way, Jill falls in love with Gregg (Ben Johnson), a cowboy who helps her devise a plan to return Joe to Africa after he is nearly killed by drunks and faces a court decree ordering him to be shot.
