The Money Trap

Joe Baron (Glenn Ford), an underpaid police detective, lives a life of luxury with his young and beautiful wife Lisa (Elke Sommer), who is rich. When their stock dividends drop, Joe finds himself in need of liquid cash. He and his partner Pete (Ricardo Montalbán) investigate a rich GP, Dr. Van Tilden (Joseph Cotten), who claims to have shot an intruder. After examining the safe, Joe rides with the injured man, who confesses to being after the $500,000. Joe then visits Kenny's wife, Rosalie (Rita Hayworth), an ex-flame, who recommends leaving town, but fails, leading to her death. Joe and Pete devise a plan to steal Van Tilden's cash, but their scheme goes awry, resulting in Pete's death and Joe's desperate attempt to escape and fulfill the agreement, ultimately ending with his arrest.
