Vincent Gardenia was an Italian American actor celebrated for his nuanced performances on stage and screen. He won a Tony Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in "The Prisoner of Second Avenue" (1972) and was twice honored with the Obie Award for Most Distinguished Performance Award by an Actor. Additionally, he received two Academy Award nominations for Best Supporting Actor, one for "Bang the Drum Slowly" (1973) and another for "Moonstruck" (1987).
