Edgar Buchanan was a talented American actor born on March 20, 1903, in Humansville, Missouri. He began his career as an actor while still pursuing dentistry and eventually left dentistry to focus on acting, joining the Pasadena Playhouse and landing roles in over 100 films. Buchanan is best known for his portrayal of Uncle Joe Carson in the popular 1960s television sitcoms Petticoat Junction, Green Acres, and The Beverly Hillbillies.
